KALAMAZOO, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Kalamazoo City Commissioners have approved millions of dollars to fund upgrades for the city’s Department of Public Safety.
The commissioners awarded $500,000 at a meeting this week for new vehicles. In addition, it gave the green light to $9.7 million for a contract with AXON Enterprises for equipment improvements over the next ten years.

Public Safety officials say equipment being used today is at the end of its life and needs to be replaced.
