LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – One of the Electric Vehicle leaders, Tesla, has recalled 200,000 vehicles as a result of backup camera malfunctions.
What models are included in the recall?
The models that have reported incidents of the backup camera malfunctioning when the car is in reverse include the Model Y, S, and X, which are equipped with the “Full Self-Driving” option.

Currently, the company has said it is not aware of any crashes or injuries reported as a result of the issue.
However, in documents submitted to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which acknowledges that software problems could prevent the camera from showing images while the Teslas are in reverse, the Texas based company indicated that it had 81 warranty claims potentially related to the problem as of late January.
Owners will be notified in a letter starting at the end of March 22 about how to proceed.

In the report, the company detailed its current position in the EV market.
“Our company is currently between two major growth waves: the first one began with the global expansion of the Model 3/Y platform and the next one we believe will be initiated by the global expansion of the next-generation vehicle platform,” the report said.
While Tesla is anticipating some new projects, it also admitted to possibly lower growth than last year.

“In 2024, our vehicle volume growth rate may be notably lower than the growth rate achieved in 2023, as our teams work on the launch of the next-generation vehicle at Gigafactory Texas,” the report said. “In 2024, the growth rate of deployments and revenue in our Energy Storage business should outpace the Automotive business.”
According to the report, the company’s revenue was $96.8 billion.
Production of a new vehicle in the works.
On an earnings call, Tesla CEO Elon Musk shared that the company expects to begin production of its next generation vehicle “toward the end of 2025” according to Axios.
“I don’t want to blow your minds, but I’m often optimistic regarding time,” Musk added.
