DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – A strike expansion could be on the horizon if the United Auto Workers (UAW union) does not make progress in its contract talks with the Big 3.

UAW President Shawn Fain is prepared to announce the escalation of its “Stand Up Strike” Friday at 10:00 a.m. if negotiations with Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis do not move forward.

The news of the strike expansion comes the same week as Detroit visits from President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

The first phase of the UAW strike involved three plants in as many states, including Michigan. Last week, Fain announced the strike would expand to 38 parts distribution facilities in 20 states.
