GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A group of firefighters are walking across Michigan to raise money for other firefighters who are battling cancer.

The walk is called Walk for the Red and it is being put on by the nonprofit Neighbors United, with the hopes of raising money to help 56 firefighters in Michigan who need help with medical expenses and other needs.

The goal is to raise $280,000 during the 140-mile walk, which began on Friday in Macomb Township.  The group of firefighters will keep walking across the state over the next few days, before arriving in Grand Rapids on Sunday.  Those who are interested in donating to the cause can visit here.
