DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – License plate readers are helping solve crimes along Detroit freeways.
The Michigan State Police began installing the readers along the I-96 and the Southfield Freeway because road rage and shootings were a common occurrence. Officials say the license plate readers are part of a pilot program to help officers identify a suspect’s car that may have been involved in a crime. Police say they used it 90% of the time to arrest suspects involved in freeway shootings.
