Even if you aren’t leaving town for the holiday, AAA says it’s smart to double check a few things to ensure safe travels.

  • Check tires to ensure adequate pressure and tread.
  • Make sure the spare tire is in good condition.
  • Pump your brakes and listen for any unusual sounds.
  • If you hear a grinding sound or feel a vibration when you apply the brakes, take them to a mechanic for an inspection.
  • Top off the engine oil.
  • Restock supplies in your emergency kit, which should include a flashlight battery, drinking water, and non-perishable food for you and your pets.
