LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – AAA Michigan is predicting 1.78 million Michiganders will travel at least 50 miles from home for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.

That would be around 80,000 more than last year’s record travel for the holiday at 1.7 million. AAA says nearly 1.6 million in the state will drive, with 71,000 planning to fly.

More than 1.2 million people in Michigan traveled 50 miles or more from home during the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

In addition, national travel is predicted to set new records with 50.7 million people expected to travel.
