HILLSDALE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – This year’s USA Shooting Skeet and Trap National Championships were hosted at Hillsdale College’s John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center. These championships selected the 2023 World Championship Team and Pan American Team. It was also the first stage of the Olympic Trials for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
“We saw some of the best shooters in the world at this event,” said Caitlin Connor Royer, assistant program development and competition manager at the Halter Center. “The Hillsdale College Halter Center is proud to serve our national team as they prepare for the Paris Olympics next summer.”

The Pan American Games Teams are separated into skeet and trap. The skeet team will include Vincent Hancock, Austen Smith, Dustan Taylor, and Dania Vizzi. The trap team will include Alicia Gough, William Hinton, Derrick Mein, and Rachel Tozier.
The 2023 World Championships Team for skeet will include Vincent Hancock, Christian Elliot, Samantha Simonton, Austen Smith, Dustan Taylor, and Dania Vizzi.
“I guess you can say that Nationals went pretty well this year,” Austen Smith said in a social media post. “I’d like to thank my family and friends for supporting me through all of these tough matches …. Now to wait for 10 months for Olympic Trials Part II!”
