All 188 people on board were safely evacuated; no injuries were reported.

After the plane was inspected, the airline arranged another aircraft to continue the flight to Los Angeles. A spokesperson for the Lincoln Airport said smoke from the flight deck prompted the pilots to land, but a spokesperson from Spirit Airlines said that wasn’t what happened.

No official information on what caused the diversion has been released.
