LANSING, Mich. (MIRS News) – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer launched a new federal political action committee (PAC) on Monday that will allow her to give donations to President Joe Biden and Democratic congressional candidates, which appears to be the plan.

The “Fight Like Hell” PAC is a take-off on an oft-used phrase from her 2022 re-election bid to protect a Michiganders’ right to abortion care if she needed it.

“Governor Whitmer is going to be pulling out all the stops to help Democrats re-elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, hold the Senate, flip the House in 2024,” said Andrew Feldman of Feldman Strategies, who is working with Fight Like Hell.

“This is a moment when we all must do everything we can to keep up the momentum for candidates who fight for everyday Americans and the will of the majority. Fight Like Hell will be a vehicle to ensure we do just that.”

Feldman pledged to release more details in the coming days.

Heather Ricketts, who has been the compliance and operations director of the Whitmer for Governor campaign since 2020, will be the treasurer of the new PAC.

Back in 2015, after the Michigan Republican Party’s leadership conference on Mackinac, then-Gov. Rick SNYDER announced a similar PAC that he launched on the state and federal level.

Over its four-year life, Snyder raised about $1 million for his federal PAC, giving to Republican incumbents from Michigan. The state PAC — fueled primarily by Roger Penske and William Parfet — raised about $600,000, which went to support pro-business GOP legislative candidates.

Meanwhile, Whitmer has retained some members of her re-election team, MIRS has learned, as she continues to stay visible on the national stage.

She’s still raising money for Democratic causes. She still has a small staff back at her re-election headquarters.

Last week, 59% of Michigan political insiders predicted that Whitmer will run for president, possibly by 2028
