DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – A single-engine plane crashed Wednesday evening in an east-side Detroit backyard. The pilot and passenger walked away unharmed.
“We are just thankful no one got hurt,” Detroit Fire Chief James Harris said. “It could have been a lot worse.”

The plane, a Michigan-based SeaRey LSA, narrowly missed a school, a park, and children playing. No chemical spill and no downed powerlines were reported.
Nicholas Pulliam was sitting on his porch when the plane hit the trees and came to rest wedged between a building and a gate.
“I’ve never seen something like that, like up close, it was like slow motion in my mind because I’m like, ‘Is that a plane? A baby blue plane just flying on Morang.’”
According to police Chief James White, residents of the home where the plane crashed “are OK but shaken up, as you can imagine.” He said the pilot did “an amazing job” landing the plane.
The cause of the accident remains unclear. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are expected to investigate.
