DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Seattle and Detroit are scheduled to hit the field again as we speak. On Friday, in their first game of the series, Seattle scored six runs in the first two innings of the game as they won, 9-2, over Detroit. With the loss, Detroit is now 8-8 at home.

Matthew Boyd received the start and gave up five earned runs on five hits in 1 1/3 innings of work. He said, “I just felt completely out of rhythm, which hasn’t happened in a long time. I tried to make some adjustments, but they weren’t enough.”

Six pitchers were used in the game with only four strikeouts as three came from Tyler Alexander in the final two innings.

Hinch added on Boyd, “He looked uncomfortable right from the start. He started with a four-pitch walk, which isn’t like him, and he was lucky 90th to get out of the inning.”

Riley Greene led the team with two hits in four at-bats. Jake Rogers had a home run for two RBI.

After Seattle took a 6-0 lead, Rogers had a two-run home run in the fifth inning to come within four, 6-2. Seattle added one in the seventh and two in the in ninth for a the 9-2 win.
