DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – For the third time in Detroit Pistons history, two players have been named to the All-Rookie team in the same season. Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren both were named to the All-Rookie Second Team for their play this season. Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart from 2020-21 and Andre Drummond and Kyle Singler in 2012-13 were the other two duos to make the All-Rookie team together.

Ivey was the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and averaged 16.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in 74 games played while starting 73. He was first in assists, second in three-pointers made, third in points, and fourth in steals amongst rookies. He collected 1,204 points this season with 387 assists, 288 rebounds and 120 three-pointers becoming the fifth rookie in NBA history to reach those minimums.

As the 13th overall pick last year, Duren produced 9.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 67 games played. He started 31 games collecting 19 double-doubles which was the fourth most for a rookie in franchise history. His .648 field goal percentage was the highest in franchise history and he was fifth in the NBA for offensive rebounds per game at 3.4. He was second amongst rookies in rebounds (595) and offensive rebounds (229) and was third in blocks (59). He was only the third rookie teenage to have more than 200 offensive rebounds in NBA/ABA history joining Dwight Howard and Moses Malone.

Detroit finished the year with the worst record in the NBA at 17-65. They will have a chance to have the top pick in the 2023 Draft when the lottery takes place n Tuesday, May 16.
