GM had called off plans for a partnership with LG in January; now the automaker is looking for a new partner company.
Plans with Samsung are on the books, but the location of that joint facility was not announced. The new factory spot, in New Carlisle, is about 20 minutes west of South Bend, Indiana, near the Michigan border.
The first of GM’s new battery plants opened last year, with a second opening later this year in Tennessee and a third under construction near Lansing. Those three plants are expected to create 11,000 jobs.
