MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Mackinac Island is getting the top spot in tourism after being named the best summer travel destination in the country by USA TODAY.
Travel editors and a panel of experts compiled the list.

Many of the businesses on Mackinac Island opened for the unofficial start of the season Friday, including the carriage tours.
Additional retailers, restaurants and other tourist spots will continue to open throughout the first part of May. The Grand Hotel opens for its 137th season on May 5.
