KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Michigan News Source)- Heading into the NFL Draft, Detroit knew they had two first round picks. Opening the night, they had the no. 6 pick but traded it away to move down to no. 12. They swapped with Arizona and received a second-round pick (No. 34) and a fifth-round pick also going with the no. 12 overall pick.

After trading down, Detroit took Jahmyr Gibbs at no. 12. Gibbs was a running back from Alabama who rushed for 926 yards on 151 carries with seven touchdowns. He also recorded 44 catches for 444 yards. He said after getting drafted, “This is a great fit. I am excited to join former Alabama teammate Jameson Williams and add game-changing speed to Detroit’s offense.”

He becomes the third running back for Detroit joining David Montgomery and D’Andre Swift.

Linebacker Jack Campbell was taken at no. 18 from Iowa and joins a defense that steadily improved every game. He says, “I’m excited to step foot in there and be the best version of Jack Campbell.”

A two-year starter for Iowa, he started 28 games playing in 43 in his four-year career. He had 15 passes defended and five interceptions in his career for the Hawkeyes.

Both players will have an immediate impact for offense and defense.
