DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – In the opening weekend of MLB play, Detroit is still winless falling in all three games to Tampa Bay. On Sunday, they broke up a no-hitter but fell, 5-1.

It was Riley Greene that broke up the no-hitter in the seventh inning as he said, “Yeah, I smelled it (the hit). When you smell a hit, obviously you’re going to turn (the speed) on. So I was just like, ‘Gotta go.’”

Riley and Jake Rogers recorded both hits for Detroit. The lone run for Detroit came in the ninth inning when Rogers homered to left center field.

Joey Wentz went 5.1 innings receiving the loss with three strikeouts on three earned runs and four hits.

A.J. Hinch said after the game, “It’s a bad weekend. We’ve got to do a lot better in a lot of areas.”

Detroit heads to Houston for a three-game series this week.
