GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source)- Fire officials say more than 14-thousand residents are getting subpar performance when it comes to response times in fire emergencies. City leaders have given initial approval to build a new fire station, starting with approving almost 600-thousand dollars to purchase a one acre parcel of land for the new station. The departments goal for response time is seven minutes, a residents in the district are only seeing that about half the time. The new station would reduce call volume by 41-percent and improve response times.
