DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Lucas Raymond became the hero of the night as he collected the winning goal in the fourth round of the shoot giving Detroit the 3-2 win. His goal was the one made for either team in the shootout. The win for Detroit stopped their three-game losing streak as they are now 31-30-9 as it also broke St. Louis’ three-game home winning streak.

All the scoring in regulation came in the first period. St. Louis struck first at 2:21 but just over five minutes later Alex Chiasson tied the game on a power play. David Perron and Dylan Larkin helped on the goal. The Blues made it 2-1 at 10:03 and held Detroit for the next seven minutes. Filip Zadina had the tying goal at 17:47 as Dominik Kubalik and Gustav Lindstrom found him for the second goal.

After two scoreless periods and an overtime of no scoring, a shootout entailed. STL’s Jakub Vrana and Jordan Kyrou’s shots were both stopped by Magnus Hellburg. Pavel Buchnevich’s shot went off the goalpost and Brayden Schenn’s went off the crossbar. Detroit’s first three chances missed as Pius Suter and Larkin’s shot were stopped by Joel Hofer. Perron’s shot was then wide of the net. It came down to the final shot by Raymond as his wrist shot went in.

Hellberg earned 20 saves in the game.

Both teams will play each other again on Thursday night in Detroit.
