OLIVET, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – On Friday night, the Olivet College baseball team had just won their first baseball game of they year over Muskingum, 8-6. Just before the team was going to leave, a player, who has yet been publicly identified, went back to the dugout to grab his hoodie. At that time he was approached by another person who pulled gun on him. The Olivet baseball player took off running but was shot three times – once in the shoulder and twice in the hip according to College Baseball Insider Josh Rudd from his tweet.

The unidentified Olivet baseball player was taken to a local hospital and has now been released to the care of his parents. The injuries were non-life threatening. The rest of the Olivet College baseball team made it back to Michigan and the games for Saturday and Sunday were canceled.

The suspect is 2021 Olivet College graduate Franklin J. Grayson of Jacksonville, Fla. He has been charged with one count of attempted murder with a firearm specification and one count of felonious assault with a firearm specification. From reports, there is no indication of the two knowing each other or any other on going threat to anyone else at Olivet College. He is being held in the custody of the Muskingum County sheriff on Sunday with the prosecutor’s office requesting a $1 million bail.
