EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – In an emotional night back at the Breslin Center for the first time since last week’s on-campus tragedy, Michigan State showed out with a huge win over #17 Indiana, 80-65. Tyson Walker led the team with 23 points which was the second most for him this season behind his 30 points vs. Purdue on January 16.

In total, four players finished in double figures as A.J. Hoggard followed Walker with 22 points adding five assists. Joey Hauser and Malik Hall both had 10 points as Houser led the team with eight rebounds. MSU also out rebounded Indiana, 33-24, forcing 13 turnovers and shot 47 percent making 10 three-pointers. They held Indiana to just five three-pointers in the game.

Indiana took an early 8-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game and still have a seven-point lead, 17-10, with 12:43 left in the first half. Indiana moved their lead to nine points, 22-13, at 8:19 but in five minutes MSU tied the game at 24 on an 11-2 run. Walker had back-to-back three-pointers to put MSU in the tie. IU retook the lead, 27-24, less than 30 seconds later but MSU finished the half on a 11-2 run, again, for a six-point lead at the half, 35-29.

MSU came out charging to begin the second half and pushed their lead to 13 points, 44-31, on a Hoggard three-pointer. By 12:03, IU cut the lead to five, 53-48, but once again MSU went on a run. This time it was a 8-0 run in four minutes to move the lead back to 13, 61-48, on a Hoggard layup. IU would come within eight at 7:13, 61-53, but MSU put the lead back in double digits for good on two Walker free throws with 4:12 left as the Spartans upset Indiana by 15-points, 80-65.

The Spartans will travel to Iowa on Saturday for a 12 pm start on the Big Ten Network.
