LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – February is American Heart Health Month and doctors across Michigan are spreading the word about heart health screening tests.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death of women in the United States and in Michigan, and it caused about one in five deaths in 2020.

Doctors are urging people to schedule an annual physical exam to screen for potential risks for heart disease. That’s when doctors can spot risk factors including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high blood sugar which often don’t have any symptoms.
In addition, doctors can discuss and recommend habits to improve heart health, including diet, exercise, and not smoking.
