DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – It took an All-Star break to revive the Detroit Red Wings as they have now won five straight games in their last six competitions. Coming off of All-Star break, they lost to Edmonton, 5-2, but now have rebounded with a five-game winning streak that stayed alive with their third straight road game. On Thursday night, Detroit went to Calgary and came away with a 5-1 win a week after defeating the Flames, 2-1, in Detroit.

Calgary found the net first at 15:22 in the first period but Dominik Kubalik tied it up just before the period ended at 18:59. Detroit then went off in the second period with three goals. Robby Fabbri scored on a power play from Dylan Larkin and David Perron at 2:27. Calgary tied it up at two at the 9:03 mark but Detroit scorched the next two goals. Kubalik recorded his second goal of the game at 15:21 and then Tyler Bertuzzi made it 4-2 at 18:43.

There was only one goal in the third period by Pius Suter at 3:55 to extend the lead to three, 5-2. Magnus Hellberg recorded 15 saves in the period to keep Calgary at bay.

Hellberg finished the game with 33 saves on 35 shots as Detroit picked up three more points and is now 26-20-8 with 60 points. They are now just two points out of fourth place in the Atlantic Division and have the 11th best points in the NHL.

Detroit has two more road games on this six-game road trip. They head to Seattle for a game on Saturday night at 10:30 p.m. eastern time.
