DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Tying for the third most player of the week awards in one season for the Horizon League, the University of Detroit Mercy’s Antoine Davis won the award this week for his past two games. Davis averaged 41.5 points per game with 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists. He has now won 14 Horizon League Player of the Week awards.
Splitting games in Wisconsin, he tied his season high of 42 points against Milwaukee with 30 points coming in the second half. He then had 41 points at Green Bay going 11-of-22 from the field with eight three-pointers. He surpassed legend Larry Bird for ninth in NCAA history with 1,161 career field goals and now has 3,482 points. He is getting closer to breaking Pete Maravich’s all-time record of 3,667 needing just 185 more points.
In the nation, Davis is first in scoring per game (27.7), total points (748), total three-pointers (129), three-pointers per game (4.77), and total field goals (245). With his 27.7 points per game average, he is on pace to break the Horizon League record of 27.6 points per game set by Loyola’s Alfredrick Hughes in 1983-84.
UDM will travel to Oakland on Friday, Feb. 17, to face their rival at 7:00 p.m.
