GLENDALE, Ariz. (Michigan News Source) – In dramatic fashion, the Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII in Arizona over Philadelphia. With the win, three former Michigan Wolverines will receive a Super Bowl ring in Chad Henne, Frank Clark and Michael Danna. It is the second Super Bowl win for both Henne and Frank as they were a part of the team in 2019 when the Chiefs defeated San Francisco.

Henne said in an Instagram post after the game, “Calling it a career. Capping it off with a Bud Light and another ring.”

Playing 13 years in the NFL, he played for the Dolphins, Jaguars, and Chiefs. He was drafted in 2008 by the Dolphins and finished his career with 60 touchdowns and 13,290 yards thrown. He played his last big game vs. Jacksonville in January called upon when NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes went down with his ankle injury. He came in the second quarter up, 10-7, and drove the team 98-yards for a touchdown on 5-of-7 passing and a touchdown pass to Travis Kelce. Mahomes came back after halftime but Henne had fulfilled his back-up role helping the Chiefs to the win.

Henne’s career at Michigan was from 2004-07 as he was a second round draft pick by the Dolphins in 2008.

Clark earns his second Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs after coming to them in a trade in 2019. He has played eight seasons in the NFL and now has 140 tackles in four seasons with the Chiefs including one on Sunday vs. the Eagles. He was at Michigan from 2011-13 and was drafted in the second round by the Seattle Seahawks in 2015.

Danna is the youngest of the three gaining his first Super Bowl ring. He was drafted by the Chiefs in the fifth round in 2020 after one year with Michigan. He posted one tackle in the win over Philadelphia.

A fourth Michigan player, Brandon Graham, played for the Eagles in the Super Bowl as a defensive end.
