The report from Study Finds aggregated data from 10 different rankings created by Business Insider, 24/7 Wall Street, and more.

Ann Arbor hit the top of the list in part thanks to the quality of its schools, the mixture of rural and suburban activities it offers, and its low crime rates compared to similarly sized metro areas.

Livability, a site that helps readers decide where to move, ranked Ann Arbor at #2 on its own “Best Places to Live in the U.S.” list compiled from last year’s data. They noted that homes for sale in Ann Arbor are typically listed at prices almost double the state average, with a median value of $489,172—slightly above the national average home sale price calculated with Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED).

Ann Arbor ranks highly in Livability’s civic engagement, health, and education indexes based on data from the Census Bureau, US Department of Housing and Urban Affairs, and other public and private-sector sources.

Other cities to make the Study Finds’ top five list include Raleigh, NC; Huntsville, AL; Fayetteville, AK; and Colorado Springs, CO.
