ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The University of Michigan women’s basketball program had a great week winning two games, moving up six spots in the national poll, and Leigha Brown being named to the Big Ten Weekly Honor Roll for a sixth time. Michigan gained wins over Illinois and Michigan State and are now 19-5 and 9-4 in the Big Ten. Brown was then on the Weekly Honor Roll with two other players for the sixth time this season.

Michigan gained a 74-57 over Illinois on Feb. 2 and then swept their rival Michigan State, 77-67, on Sunday. Brown had 27 points, four rebounds, and five assists in the win vs. Illinois. She then collected 29 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists coming up just short of a triple-double vs. MSU. She averaged 28 points and eight rebounds per game shooting 72 percent from the floor with 6.5 assists per game.

The Wolverines then moved up six spots on Monday afternoon in the AP Poll to 12th. Michigan is now one of five programs  represented in the top 25. Indiana is no. 2, Iowa at no. 5, Maryland at no. 8, and Ohio Stat is 13th.

Michigan is off until Sunday, February 12, when they host Nebraska at 1:00 p.m. in the Pink Game on the Big Ten Plus Network.
