DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Shooting on 27 percent from three-point range, the Pistons couldn’t keep up with Boston’s 43 percent from the arc as the Celtics won in Detroit, 111-99. Boston hit 16 three-pointers as Detroit was just 9-of-33.
Bojan Bogdanovic hit two of Detroit’s nine three-pointers for 21 points. Killian Hayes added 17 points as Saddiq Bey and Jaden Ivey each had 14 points. Isaiah Stewart followed with a double-double in 10 points and 12 rebounds. Jalen Duren led the team 14 rebounds. Boston’s Jason Tatum became the difference in the game finishing with 34 points and 11 rebounds.

Detroit shot 42 percent overall to Boston’s 47 percent but the Celtics 16 three-pointer became the difference.
Boston had just a one-point lead, 26-25, at the end of the first quarter and was up just seven at the half, 60-53. Detroit briefly had the lead early in the second quarter, 27-26, on a Hayes jumper and a Stewart layup, 29-28, with 10:53 to go. The Pistons were within three, 37-34, with 8:43 on the clock but Boston went on a 9-2 run over two and half minutes for a 10-point lead, 46-36. Detroit answered with a 15-6 run to cut the lead to two, 53-51, on two free throws from Ivey by the 2:40 mark. Boston finished the quarter on a 7-2 run for a seven-point advantage, 60-53, at the half.
It was all Celtics in the third quarter outscoring the Pistons, 30-19, to take an 18-point lead into the fourth, 90-72. Boston continued their 18-point lead early in the fourth, 93-75, at 11:05 but Detroit made a rally. Over the next three minutes, Detroit went on a 11-0 run coming within seven, 93-86, on a Hamidou Diallo shot with 7:54 remaining. At the 6:44 mark, Hayes hit another shot from 12-feet out as the 18-point Celtic lead was now down to six, 97-91. Boston scored eight of the next 10 points for a 12-point lead, 105-93, at 3:18. It was a double digit lead the rest of the way as the Celtics held off Detroit by 12 points, 111-99.
Detroit will travel to Cleveland on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. start on the Bally Sports Detroit Network.
