DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Leading by 11 points in the third quarter, the Detroit Pistons had just a one-point lead headed into the fourth quarter where they were outscored, 28-21, in the 111-105 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Detroit falls to 13-35 on the year.
With 46 seconds left and a two-point lead, Dallas’ Luka Doncic hit a 14-point jumper to push the lead to four, 109-105. Detroit’s Bojan Bogdanovic had a chance to pull the game to within one but missed a three-point shot that was controversial afterward. It looked as though Bogdanovic was fouled but didn’t get the call with 38.1 seconds left.

“We thought Bojan got fouled,” said Detroit head coach Dwane Casey. “You still have to play in those situations and close out the game, because we put ourselves in a situation to win.”
Bogdanovic led the team with 29 points as Saddiq Bey added 18 points with five three-pointers.
Detroit was down, 30-27, after the first quarter but rallied for 30 points in the second for a 57-53 lead at the half.
Starting off the third quarter on a 9-2 run, Detroit had an 11-point lead, 66-55, when Jalen Duren slammed down an offensive rebound. That was the Pistons’ biggest lead of the game. With 6:57 left to play in the quarter, Bey hit a three-pointer to extend the lead back to 10 points, 71-61. Bogdanovic nailed a three-pointer at 6:16 to put the lead at 11, 74-63. Isaiah Stewart made it an eight-point lead, 83-75, at the 2:46 mark on a hook shot. That was the final basket made in the quarter for Detroit as Dallas finished on an 8-1 run to pull within one heading into the fourth quarter, 84-83.
Dallas went on a 11-4 run in the first four and half minutes of the final quarter for a six-point lead, 94-88. Detroit never recovered coming within two, 98-96, on a Bogdanovic three-pointer at 5:26. The lead was down to two, again, 107-105, on a step-back shot by Bogdanovic at 1:52 but a missed opportunity by the Pistons 40 seconds later happened when Bey couldn’t convert his shot to tie the game. Luka Doncic then hit a shot with 46.1 seconds left in the game pushing the lead to four and the rest is history as a no-call foul on Bogdanovic happened at 38.1 seconds. Dallas made two free throws with 7.1 seconds left to seal the win, 111-105.
Detroit will host the Washington Wizards at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
