ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – How is the newest social media message interpreted by Michigan football fans? Can the latest tweet from Michigan President Santa Ono secure Jim Harbaugh? For now, it does. According to President Ono’s Twitter account (@SantaJOno), posted on the afternoon of January 16, Harbaugh is back for good. Ono’s tweet says:

“I just got off the phone with Coach Harbaugh and Jim shared with me the great news that he is going to remain as the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines. That is fantastic news that I have communicated to our Athletic Director Warde Manuel. Go Blue!”

Following that tweet from Ono, the University of Michigan Twitter account followed with a statement from Harbaugh saying:

“I love the relationships that I have at Michigan – coaches, staff, families, administration, President Santa Ono and especially the players and their families. My heart is at the University of Michigan. I once heard a wise man say, ‘Don’t try to out-happy, happy.’ Go Blue!”

It is a good sign for Michigan that Harbaugh called the Denver Broncos on Monday to inform them he was remaining at Michigan reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Harbaugh also has talked to the Carolina Panthers in a conversation setting with owner David Tepper. There are also multiple other NFL head coaching positions open that have not contacted Harbaugh – the Indianapolis Colts are one of them.

All is good for now for Harbaugh, but what does this say about his relationship with Warde Manuel? Harbaugh talked to Ono, not Manuel, to say he was coming back. There are no new terms mentioned either of a contract, unless that is to come.

On the outside it looks good. A storm maybe brewing though in NCAA sanctions, the relationship with Warde, and terms of an agreement if there is one.

Harbaugh has President Ono on his side after back-to-back Big Ten Championships and two wins over Ohio State.

Who knows what will happen next week. For now, both Ono and Harbaugh say “Go Blue!”
