ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Let the bidding war commence for Jim Harbaugh. It has been confirmed by Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport on NFL.com that Harbaugh will have a virtual interview with the Denver Broncos early this week. This comes after Harbaugh had “talks” with the Carolina Panthers. Oh, and then a tweet from the University of Michigan football social media accounts, not Harbaugh’s account that says, “I expect that I will be enthusiastically coaching Michigan in 2023.”

That statement came from Michigan three days ago and yet Harbaugh has another interview. The Broncos have requested an interview with former Saints coach Sean Payton along with speculations of the Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, along with the Broncos Ejiro Evero who is the defensive coordinator. Harbaugh, though, has ties to the Broncos through Condoleezza Rice who is member of the Broncos’ ownership group and search committee. Rice is the Tad and Dianne Taube Director of Hoover Institution and a senior fellow on Public Policy at Stanford and has deep ties to the University. The co-owner and CEO of the Broncos, Greg Penner, received his MBA from Stanford. So there are ties to the Broncos that are in favor for Harbaugh.
Denver will want to bring in a coach to help clean up their situation and work with veteran Russell Wilson at quarterback. Harbaugh is a former NFL head coach, NFL quarterback, and worked with veteran quarterbacks while in San Francisco.
This matter with Harbaugh will not be settled soon. He is a hot commodity and he will do what is best for him and his future. He has laid a great foundation for Michigan football and that is what he was hired to do when the program was in shambles. It maybe his turn to go to a NFL team and turn a program around.
Tomorrow is a new day, too, and Michigan may find a way to make him one of the highest paid collegiate coaches, ever. Time will tell.
