HOLLAND, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Being the target every week in NCAA Division III as the defending national champions, Hope College saw their win streak ended by Trine University on December 17, 76-64. In the final D3hoops.com NCAA Division III National Poll they dropped from the top team to fifth and in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) they were voted to fourth.

In the D3hoops.com poll, they received 512 points and had 223 points in the WBCA poll. The loss to Trine ended Hope’s 25-game winning streak and they are now 2-2 in the last four games in the past two years.

Head coach Brian Morehouse said after the loss, “We didn’t shoot it very well. Our go-to players didn’t shoot it as well as they typically do, and that’s coaching. I have to get them in better spots to allow them to make shots. That’s not on 20-year-olds. That’s on the coach to put those players in better spots so that they can get the shots they’re used to getting.”

Hope will start back play after 12 days off for Christmas Break on December 29 against Carnegie Mellon at the Ohio Wesleyan Hoops for Hope Tournament in Delaware, Ohio.
