EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Joey Hauser continued his scoring spree with 10 or more points in a game leading Michigan State with 22 points as the Spartans took an 18-point win over Brown University, 68-50. His 22 points was just shy of his career-high of 23 he had against Kentucky earlier in the year.

A.J. Hoggard finished with 17 points and Tyson Walker 10 points as both Mady Sissoko and Jaxon Kohler each had seven rebounds. MSU shot 42 percent from the floor, 36 percent from the arc, and was a perfect 6-of-6 at the stripe. Brown was held to 33 percent shooting and only 20 percent in three-pointers.

With just a one-point lead, 11-10, at the 11:05 mark in the first half, Michigan State went on a 11-2 run to go ahead, 22-12, on a Pierre Brooks fast break layup. Brown scored right after that to cut the lead to eight (6:19) but by the 3:52 mark Hoggard hit a three-pointer to put the lead at 14 points, 29-15. With 56 seconds left in the half, Jaden Atkins nailed a three-pointer for a 14-point halftime advantage, 32-18.

MSU shot 45 percent in the second half and 44 percent from the three-point line scoring 36 points. They had an 18-point lead just a minute and a half on a Walker three-pointer, 38-20. With 13:56 to go, Brooks had a layup for MSU’s first 20-point lead, 44-24. Brown did come with in 15 but Hoggard had a fast break layup with 9:45 left pushing the lead to 22-points, 53-31. Houser made it a 26-point lead on another fast break layup at the 8:24 mark as MSU kept a 20-plus point lead the rest of the way until the final minute of the game. Brown had a dunk with 14 seconds left to make the final, 68-50.

MSU takes on Oakland on December 21 at 6:30 p.m. as their next game.
