ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – For the second year in a row, Michigan is headed to the playoffs. This year, though, they know what it takes to win in the playoffs and are prepared for it after claiming their second straight Big Ten Championship.
On Sunday afternoon, Michigan found out that they will be playing #3 Texas Christian University on December 31 in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. This will be the first time these two teams have played each other and it will be the 50th bowl game in the history of Michigan football.

Jim Harbaugh said, “We are excited to continue our quest for a national championship in Arizona at the Fiesta Bowl. TCU is a great football team and we look forward to the opportunity to compete against them in the College Football Playoff semifinal. We are honored to represent the University of Michigan and the Big Ten Conference in the Fiesta Bowl.”
The last time Michigan was in the Fiesta Bowl was when Harbaugh was the quarterback in his junior year. He led his team to a 27-23 win over Nebraska with two rushing touchdowns.
This will be the first time since 2013 that Michigan has faced a Big 12 team in a bowl game as they lost to Kansas State, 31-14. TCU is 12-1 under first year head coach Sonny Dykes averaging 40.3 points per game and 473 yards of offense. Their defense has recorded 15 interceptions and is led by Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson who is a Jim Thorpe Award finalist.
Michigan is 13-0 and will be putting it all on the line for a chance to play for a national championship.
