DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – The turnaround is happening for the Detroit Red Wings as they have won seven of their last 12 matches. Their four game winning streak, though, came to an end on Monday night to Toronto, 4-2. Detroit is now 11-6-4 and in fourth place in the Atlantic Division.

On retro jersey night, Detroit broke out their Adidas Reverse Retro jerseys that were all red with black horizontal stripes on the jersey. Across the chest was a white Detroit spelled out over a black stripe. The jerseys, though, didn’t help with the score. Mortitz Seider led Detroit with the first goal of the game at 4:45. That was his 60th career goal as he became only the fourth defenseman in franchise history to register that feat at 21 years of age.

Toronto then scored the next two goals in the less than a minute time span to take the lead, 2-1. They tied the game at one at 8:24 and then took the lead at 9:15 on a power play. In the second period, Mitchell Marner put Toronto up, 3-1, at 00:52. By the 8:37 mark, Toronto scored again for their fourth straight goal and a three-goal advantage, 4-1.

Adam Erne cut the lead to two in the third period at 12:41 off an assist from Ben Chiarot.

Head coach Derek Lalonde said, “It’s just one of those nights that the puck just didn’t go our way, which is gonna happen. Again, I thought our guys hung in there and played the right way for the most part.
Detroit will host Buffalo at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday night.
