DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Julius Randle went off for 36 points, five assists, and seven rebounds leading the New York Knicks to a 140-110 over the Pistons on Tuesday night. New York led for almost the entire game from the opening basket and an 8-2 lead to the 30-point win.

Detroit had seven players score in double figures no higher, though, than Isaiah Stewart’s 19 points. Bojan Bogdanovic and Marvin Bagley III both added 13 points while Jalen Duren had 12t  points as Killan Hayes, Cory Joseph, and Saddiq Bey gave 11 points. The Pistons shot great at 50 percent from the floor but New York made 56 percent of their shots and took 13 more shots than the Pistons.

New York jumped out to an early 5-0 lead on a Randle jumper. They kept their distance in the first quarter but Detroit was within three, twice, the last coming at 28-25 on a Bagley III three-pointer with 3:49 left. New York finished on a 12-7 run for an eight-point lead at the end of the first quarter.

Duren slammed down a dunk with 10:05 left in the second quarter pulling Detroit to within four, 42-38. Bey then also had a dunk at the 9:09 maintain being within four points, 44-40. Bey then found Duren on a fast break with 8:08 left to go for a dunk taking their only lead of the game, 45-44. Detroit came back to take a four-point lead but Bey made three straight free throws to stay within one, 49-48 with 7:09 left. With 5:16 left, Stewart canned a three-pointer to make it a two-point game, 53-51. New York then went on a 8-0 run over two and half minutes for a 61-51 lead. With 41 seconds left, the Knicks had a 16-point lead, 70-54, before Bogdanovic banked in a shot as the final bucket of the half, 70-56.

New York made their move in the third quarter scoring 38 points and only allowing just 21 for a 31-point lead, 108-77, at the end of the period. Detroit did outscore New York in the fourth quarter, 33-32, but the damage was done the quarter before.

Detroit will next play on Sunday, December 4 when they host Memphis at 6:00 p.m.
