ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – With the women’s basketball season right around the corner, the University of Michigan has momentum going into the 2022-23 season. In the preseason Associated Press Top 25 Poll, they start out at 25th. They finished last year in the Elite Eight which was the first time in program history. During that season, program records were set for most wins against ranked teams at eight, recorded 13 Big Ten victories, and had the second most wins in program history.

Entering this year, they will be without Naz Hillmon who was the 15th pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft. She was the program leader in rebounds (1,063), double-doubles (52), and free throws made (487) while being the only player to record 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. With that leadership gone, Michigan turns their focus to Leigha Brown who is on the Ann Meyers-Drysdale Watch list.
