EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan State’s Jacoby Windmon and Michigan’s Jake Moody have been named the Big Ten Players of the Week. MSU’s Windmon won his third “Defensive Player of the Week” while Moody is the “Special Teams Player of the Week.
Windmon earned his third player of the week honor for his play against Wisconsin. He is just the sixth Big Ten player to win the weekly defensive award three times with the last player earning it in 2015. He started for the first time this year at linebacker and posted 11 tackles causing both Wisconsin turnovers. He also recorded his first-ever interception and forced a fumble. He is on the Bednarik Award Watch list and leads the Big Ten with 10.5 tackles for loss. MSU earned their first Big Ten win of the year, 34-28, in double overtime over Wisconsin.

Moody was the special teams player of the week and Lou Groza Award Star of the Week. He scored 15 points in the win over Penn State hitting four field goals with three extra points. He hit field goals of 23, 24, 29, and 37 yards. He is now sixth on the all-time scoring list for Michigan at 280 points. Michigan leveled Penn State in the second half for a 41-17 win to stay 7-0 on the year.
These two programs will face each other this week in Ann Arbor.
