LANSING, Mich. (MIRS News) – With under 26 days until the election, Republican nominee Tudor Dixon has spent $51,534 out of her own candidate committee on advertisements, while present Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s team has dropped more than $13.2 million, according to spending tracked by the political analytics service, AdImpact.
Even with the millions spent directly out of her campaign’s account for the General Election period, Whitmer’s investment accounts for less than 30% of the $44.7 million in Democratic spending that’s backed her reelection bid as of today. Nearly $30 million of it is coming from the Put Michigan First committee created by the Democratic Governors Association.

Meanwhile, the Republican Governors Association’s “Get Michigan Working Again” has spent $3.64 million and the DeVos-family backed Michigan Families United has spent $2.3 million, which accounts for nearly all of the $6.076 spent on Dixon’s bid up to this point.
During the Republican primary election, Metro Detroit auto sales owner Kevin Rinke spent $7.06 million on advertisements from his self-funded candidate account. Business management consultant Perry Johnson spent more than $5.9 million on ads before he was disqualified off the August ballot due to fraudulent signatures being on his required candidate nominating petition.
Kalamazoo chiropractor Garrett Soldano, a grassroots anti-lockdown activist, also spent $919,859 from his own candidate account during that time – more than 17 times the amount Dixon has spent to unseat Whitmer so far.
Additionally, although Republican groups have been willing to invest $6.075 million overall into Dixon’s campaign for General Election advertising spending, they’ve also invested:
– $12.64 million into present State Sen. Tom Barrett (R-Charlotte)’s congressional campaign against Democratic U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D) in Michigan’s new 7th congressional district. Democratic General Election ad spending is at $14.8 million backing Slotkin.
– $4.31 million is being spent on ads for former U.S. Senate candidate John James to defeat Democrat, and previous Macomb County judge, Carl Marlinga in the new 10th congressional district. Democratic ad spending is at more than $1.9 million supporting Marlinga.
