DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – In their third exhibition match of the young season, Detroit fell to the Capitals late in the third period. Up 2-1, the Capitals Conner Brown netted a goal at 17:33 to tie the game at two. Alex Overchkin then gave Washington the lead with 54 seconds left in the game for the 3-2 win on an empty net.
Tyler Bertuzzi and Michael Rasmussen each had a goal for Detroit as Ville Husso had 31 saves.

Detroit took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a power-play goal with 8:09 left. Washington then tied it up at one with 23 seconds left in the period on a delayed penalty. It wasn’t until the 7:42 marke that Rasmussen put the Red Wings in front, 2-1 on a pass from Bertuzzi. Washington waited almost six minutes later to tie the game up at two when Nick Jensen scored at 13:45.
Detroit will next play on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. hosting Toronto.
