LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The general election is less than two months away and the GOP leadership in Michigan appears to be MIA when it comes to any meaningful campaign or strategy to unseat the Democrats in Lansing.
On Sunday, GOP Co-Chair Meshawn Maddock tweeted what appeared to be a derogatory comment against U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who is making Michigan his home.

We’re so blessed this weak little girl moved to Michigan! Looks like he’s bringing all his California Dreaming here with him. https://t.co/85MQNcN3f1

The pushback from her comments were swift.
It’s 9/11 and you decided to launch a homophobic attack against a veteran who has served this country in ways you never will? Disgusting. You are so unfit to lead anything and the condition of the MIGOP shows it.

I’m heartened to see that when the head of the MIGOP put her hate out there on full display, taking a calculated political risk that mean still wins points, nobody has her back. #hatewontwin MIGOP doesn’t represent Michigan.

Pete’s probably been called worse by better. Still, this is some childish, hateful and really lazy insult writing.

While it may be tempting to chalk this exchange up to a brief lapse in judgement, it’s one of the many links on the chain that could lead to a GOP defeat in November if something doesn’t change.
GOP gubernatorial nominee Tudor Dixon has yet to release any ads to counter Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s claims that Dixon is a “no exceptions” candidate when it comes to abortion. The issue of a legal right to abortion is expected to be a deciding factor for how voters cast their ballot in November.
In addition, candidates Dixon, Secretary of State candidate Kristina Karamo, and Attorney General contender Matt DePerno have done little to shore up their voter block. A representative with Dixon’s campaign said it does not have a public events calendar yet. Karamo’s campaign website lists “upcoming events” with a single September 12 date. DePerno’s website lists nothing.
Michigan’s election is November 8.
