Derek Lalonde has been chosen to reset the Red Wings this year and has his coaching staff ready to go. He said in July when hired, “I think the timing of this, the growth and things I’ve learned throughout the way, it’s perfect. It’s time, and I’m very excited about this opportunity, the next challenge in my career.”
Lalonde knows championships after winning back-to-back championships in 2019-20 and 2020-21 with Tampa Bay. He has hired associate coach Bob Boughner, assistant coach Jay Varady, and goaltending coach Alex Westlund.
