EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Being the 14th player to commit to Mel Tucker’s 2023 class, Colton Hood will be bringing his defensive game up north to Michigan State. The 6-foot, 170 pound corner back is from McDonough, Georgia, and plays at Eagles Landing Christian Academy.

On his Twitter account, Hood says, “GOD DID! So bless and thankful for this opportunity. 100% committed to MSU football and Coach Tucker.”

He is ranked as the 66th best cornerback in the nation and 61st best player in Georgia according to 247Sports. Along with MSU, Hood’s top five were Arkansas, Auburn, Boston College, and Clemson. Football runs in his family has his uncle Roderick Hood played eight seasons in the NFL (47 games) and was a defensive back for Auburn.

Hood says, “I believe in [Tucker] and he believes in me.”

Over 25 programs offered tucker scholarships from the SEC and Big Ten with teams including Arkansas, Florida, Vanderbilt, Kansas, North Carolina, Indiana, Mississippi State, Clemson, Minnesota, Penn State, Boston College, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, and LSU.

He becomes the seventh defensive commit to MSU in the class and third cornerback.

MSU opened the 2022 season with a win over Central Michigan University.
