DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Kansas City’s offense came back alive after a slow day on Friday scoring 12 runs hitting four home runs in the 10-run win. Detroit couldn’t stop KC’s offense in game two of the series as the Royals had 15 hits and nine extra base hits.
Michael Pineda went four innings for the loss giving up five earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts. Javier Baez, Tucker Barnhart, and Ryan Kreidler all had two hits. Barnhart recorded a home run.

The Royals scored one in the top of the first but Detroit tied the game in the bottom of the second. KC then scored 11 runs over the next five innings for the 12-2 win. They answered with three in the third, one in the fourth, four in the fifth, one in the sixth, and two in the seventh for the 12-2 lead.
Kreidler tied the game at one in the second on a sacrifice fly scoring Spencer Torkelson. Detroit didn’t score again until the fifth inning when they were down 9-1. Barnhart hit his first home run of the year in the fifth inning making it 9-2. One more run came in the sixth and two in the seventh made it 12-2.
The series will end on Sunday at 1:40 p.m.
