DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Detroit mustered only four hits against Seattle in the 7-0 loss to finish off the series in Detroit. Seattle’s Logan Gilbert went six innings recording nine strikeouts giving up two Detroit hits. Eduardo Rodriguez received the loss going just four innings giving up six earned runs but recorded five strikeouts.

Riley Greene earned two of Detroit’s hits while Javier Baez and Harold Castro each had one hit. Seattle scored six runs in four innings for the big lead. They brought in the first run in the first inning and then added two in the third inning and three in the fourth inning making it 6-0. One more run came in in the ninth for the seventh run.

Baez had the first hit of the game with two outs in the first inning but Castro flew out to end the inning. Greene singled in the third for the second hit of game as Tucker Barnhart moved to second base after being walked. With only one out Detroit was threatening but a strikeout and a fly out ended any scoring chances. Greene added his second hit in the ninth inning with no outs and moved to second with two outs on Castro’s single but once again Detroit couldn’t bring in the runs as they fell, 7-0.

Detroit will host Kansas City starting on Friday at 7:10 p.m. in a three-game weekend series.
