LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – In a press release sent out by Michigan’s Democratic Attorney General, Dana Nessel, she tells Michigan voters that she’ll be declining to participate in any debates against Matt DePerno, the Republican nominee for Attorney General in advance of the November election.

She cites her obligation to refrain from making extrajudicial comments that have a potential likelihood of heightening public condemnation of the accused which may materially prejudice an adjudicative
proceeding. These rules come from the American Bar Association.

However, two paragraphs down from that statement, Nessel makes a comment that DePerno has demonstrated a complete and utter inability to relay truthful information about the 2020 election. She goes on to say that the “constant spread of disinformation inevitably leads to the rise in hate crimes and escalation in violence against government officials, and undermines the electorate’s faith in our system of elections and our democracy as a whole.”

Nessel says that DePerno has the inability to distinguish fact from fiction and she won’t allow a forum for him to “further denigrate our democracy or the good people of the state of Michigan.”

Nessel has asked for a special prosecutor in the case against DePerno to review possible criminal charges against him that he allegedly “orchestrated a coordinated plan to gain access to voting machines in multiple jurisdictions following the 2020 election.”

Nessel has said she can’t comment on the case because it’s still an open investigation, and as stated above, is using the case as a reason for not debating her opponent, however, she continues to Tweet about his conduct and beliefs pertaining to the 2020 election.

On Wednesday Nessel tweeted that DePerno is circulating “dangerous false claims about our elections.” Before that on August 31st, she said he supports “domestic acts of terrorism against the government.”

Nessel has had plenty to say on Twitter about DePerno’s 2020 election claims that some might say are definitely heightening public condemnation of the accused – but she is refusing to make the same comments in person in a debate.

DePerno had asked Nessel for three debates but he won’t be getting a single one. In response to her refusal to debate, DePerno said in a statement, “24 hours after I issued my challenge to three debates, Drunk Dana refused to debate me because she knows that she can’t defend her lackluster record of rising crime and demanding for a drag queen in every school.”

He goes on to say, “For 4 long years, the people of Michigan have been waiting for a chance to see Drunk Dana debate her opponent and defend her lawless record. Time after time she refuses because she does not want to talk about how under watch violent crime is at an all-time high and confidence in our government is at an all-time low.”
