NOVI, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan State Fair LLC will host the 10th annual Michigan State Fair at the Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River Ave., from Sept. 1-5 near Novi.

While the original state fair was hosted on the Michigan State Fairgrounds on Woodward Avenue from 1905 until 2009, it debuted in Detroit in 1849.  Unfortunately, after 104 years, it was eventually canceled due to budget cuts under Governor Jennifer Granholm in 2009.

However, the event was brought back to life by the Michigan State Fair, LLC, in 2012 and has continued to host the event at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi for the past decade according to the Detroit Historical Society.

At the upcoming fair this week, sponsored by Ram Trucks, attendants can expect several new attractions and activities.

One of the newest attractions is The Cool Zoo, which is a family owned and operated wildlife experience that features numerous experiences ranging from crab races to gem mining. See the website for more information.

The fair is offering several methods of purchasing discounted tickets while also giving back to the community according to a Michigan State Fair LLC press release.  Perhaps the easiest way would be to use code “EARLY2022” at the Michigan State Fair website until Aug. 31, and receive $5.00 dollars off the Ultimate Admission which costs $42.00.  Additionally, you may purchase a ticket at select Southeast Michigan Kroger locations and get $8.00 off Ultimate Admission.  For other ways to buy and save on tickets see the MI State Fair website.

This year is also projected to be the largest gathering to date, and the fair has made some changes to enhance the experience of fair goers.  One such change is a first come first serve basis parking area which is free to early birds.  Moreover, the regular Shrine Circus, which benefits the Shriners Hospitals for Children will be performing under the largest Circus tent in the world; the tent will be the largest to date and will be air conditioned.

Those who are minors and wish to attend the fair after 6 pm on any day, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
