DETROIT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Detroit’s offense came alive for one big inning in the final game of the series against San Francisco for a 6-1 win. Six runs were scored in the fifth inning to break open a 0-0 tie as Detroit finished with eight hits in the game.

Victor Reyes led the team with two hits and two RBI. Willi Castro collected two RBI on a hit. Kody Clemens and Harold Castro each added a RBI.

Matt Manning gained his first win of the year going six innings striking out eight batters and no earned runs for one of the top pitching performances of the year for Detroit. He retired the side in the second, fourth, and sixth inning striking out the side in the sixth inning. The pitching staff collected 13 strikeouts as Will Vest and Alex Lange each worked an inning with two strikeouts a piece. Gregory Soto closed out the ninth with a strikeout.

With two outs, Detroit scored six runs on four straight hits. Reyes started off the scoring with a single to centerfield as Jeimer Candelario and Tucker Barnhart came in. Clemens made it 3-0 on a line drive to right field scoring Akil Baddoo. Castro added another run singling to centerfield bringing in Reyes and then a Castro’s 14th double of the year had both Joc Pederson and Clemens touch home plate for the fifth and sixth runs of the game.

Detroit is off on Thursday before traveling to Texas for a three-game series on the weekend with the Rangers.
