GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Automobile fanatics and families prepare to feast your eyes on thousands of rare classic cars at the 17th Annual 28th Street Metro Car show this coming weekend in Grand Rapids.
The largest car event west of Detroit has hosted more than 15,000 Collector, Sports, and Antique cars to the Grand Rapids area in past years. Events kick off on Friday from 1- 9 pm featuring the several bands including the Wyoming High School Marching Band and Onager band to close the evenings events.

Car enthusiasts can opt to cruise their own cars down 28th Street without any pre-registration; however those hoping to secure a spot in the limited “Collector Car Row” must apply in advance of the event and pay a fee. 28th Street will not be closed or diverted at any point during the show. Introductory events on Saturday will include an opening and community awards ceremony followed by the Hark Up! Band performance.
From 4-5 pm Saturday, the event will feature a free flowing cruise time for those wishing to enjoy a leisurely cruise down 28th street with no official parade route nor start nor end locations.
If stationary car gazing is more your speed, check out the viewing locations in the Rogers Plaza and Woodland Mall Friday afternoon and all day Saturday.
The event’s most popular area, Collector Car Row, features more than 200 show cars along 28th Street at the Rogers Plaza Main Event site in Wyoming.
Besides thousands of cars on display, there will be more than 25 food trucks and concessionaires, five free Grand Rapids bands, numerous Metro Cruise merchandise vendors, a Miss Metro Cruise pageant Finale, and the 160mph+ Dyno testing area, and more.
Attendees are encouraged to use the free shuttle service that operates on a 15 minute loop to help reduce parking difficulties according to the The 28th Street Metro Cruise Facebook page.
