DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Four scoreless innings started the game but it was a different story in the final five innings. Cleveland scored five runs in those five innings holding off a ninth inning rally from Detroit, 5-2. Tyler Alexander went seven innings receiving the loss picking up just two strikeouts and two earned runs. Will Vest pitched one inning giving up three runs on three hits.
Riley Greene posted two of the six hits for Detroit as Eric Haase recorded a RBI.

Cleveland earned runs in the fifth and sixth inning for a 2-0 lead off of Alexander. The final three runs came in the eighth inning with two runs coming in on a double for a four-run lead. A ground ball to center field with one out finished of the scoring for Cleveland for the 5-0 advantage.
Haase earned a RBI with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth for the first run. With two outs, a wild pitch allowed Victor Reyes to pull Detroit within three. With the tying run at the plate, Akil Baddoo grounded out as the Tigers fell short of their rally, 5-2.
